The
Crown Inn at Smallburgh is a fifteenth century coaching
inn with a fascinating history. It is an attractive
thatched, timber-framed structure, hipped to the east
and gabled to the west. It has been suggested that the
large upper room above the bar (now divided into rooms
by stud walls) was used for public occasions. The Crown
was enlarged with an extra wing in the eighteenth century.
It has a seperate dining room and a beautiful beer
garden to the rear of the building. The Inn has been
recommended in the Egon Ronay pub food guide every year
since 1994. CAMRA's good beer guide also includes the
Crown Inn.
A warm welcome awaits visitors new and old from Carl
and Sue Hunter plus all members of staff.
